Freya (my older kitty) is crying constantly. But they are really pathetic cries, more like whines. She has tons of food, both wet and dry. Is not in any pain, as far as I know, she's letting us stroke her all over, and walking fine.

I have no idea what to do, and it's really frustrating both myself and my Mr.

Any help is gratefully recieved!

When was she last wormed? Check her poo anyway.

Might also be a ghost-heat - cats remain sexual despite spaying. She might also have had a fright outside and be in need of some lovings.

All possible. However I'd get cat to vet for a check-up just in case. One of our cats once spent several days doing this, and purring a lot. Turned out he had cancer (cats sometimes meow and purr when in severe pain) which we just hadn't detected. The pain was inside, so poking and prodding him didn't make any difference. Poor boy had to be put down.

Gremlin, unbenown to us, got hit by a car. He cried a lot, and when we took him to the vet it turned out he had a damaged hip which was aching, even though he could walk fine on it. So it could be a small, but painful injury (well, we think it was a car, but he might have done it jumping down off a wall).

I don't mean to scare you. My cat Noodle has taken to crying at me a lot, but it's just because we've been away and he's missed me. It's most likely something like that.

Things to look at are; does she cry all the time, or only when moving, or only when sat... that kind of thing. Is she favouring any part of her body, only lying on one side, etc.? *frustrated* If I could actually see her I'd probably be able to give some suggestions ('tis a point of pride that excepting the cancer in Maati - I was about 7 at the time - I've correctly diagnosed every cat I've ever met).

But if you can possibly manage it, do let a vet check her over.

Well, she's doing everything as normal. It could be that she is wanting more fuss.

She did have kittens before I got her (she's a rescue cat - both of them are), could it be anything to do with that?

That's possible. She may just be missing them and wanting some love. If there is no other behaviour than her meowing I would guess it's psychological and nothing physical - could be phantom heat (I assume she is neutered... I've heard about that sort of behaviour). Give her lots of love and fuss, and maybe some nice treats and see how it goes.

*thinks* Is she an only cat? If so getting her a little friend might help if she doesn't improve. Plenty more kittens out there needing a home :)

She's calmed down since we've started fussing her more. So it's probably that.

Oh and she's not on her own, I've got 2 kitties, the other one is younger than her, and a bit 'special'

Well, she's had kittens before she came to me, so it could be that. It's not worms - I've checked the poo!
