Clothes and shoes and shineys Oh My!
Apr. 7th, 2005 06:37 pmI have been a very bad girl! But it's for work, so it doesn't count! In an effort to smarten my image (and because I want to dress for the job I want, not the job I have) I have been looking at various clothing sites for smart office wear. At present, my office wear could be described as ok at best. It doesn't make me feel good, and it hasn't changed for 4 yrs (in some cases literally!).
Now the only problem with looking at clothing sites is that I am a size 16 (like most of Britain's women), the nicest suits etc go up to a 14, or a 'grudging' 16. And they are cut very close. I've had a lot of catalogues deivered (usually better for bigger girls), but none of them had anything that made me go 'I want that!'.
I want to look like a PA, and because I've not worn any colour really for 13 yrs, I want black, pinstripe, and kinda smart and sexy. The first step was the shoes (more about those later), fortunately I have very slim size 6 feet, so they aren't a hassle. But the clothes are. Now the other day, I was pottling around the 'net, and the Simply Be advert popped up in my head. And I thought, sod it, it's time that I faced the fact that I have child-bearing hips (whether or not I chose to use them), not inconsiderable breasts (which need re-measuring), and a bum, belly and thighs that no matter how much I wish, are not melt away in my sleep! I'm used to my broad shoulders by now tho ;-)
The Simply Be website was a marvel (http://www.simplybe.co.uk), the models are not twiglets, the clothes are not rent-a-tents, and I've just placed an order for 3 pairs of trousers (one is hand-wash - boo), and 2 tops, and they are lovely. I feel very positive about these clothes (which is a rarity with non-goth stuff). And they should arrive on Tuesday, so there'll be an update on them then. If the clothes are as good as their web-site and catalogue, I will be a very happy Jules!
Now, on to the shoes! Both pairs have arrived! They were sent to Mumsie's (there's someone in all the time there), both parcels were sent by Parcel Force, and Schuh kept me informed every step of the way. There was an e-mail when the order was placed, another as each item was despatched (seperately, but no p+p charge) with a tracking number on. And finally a third when delivery had been confirmed. Speedy delivery, I was kept totally informed, and Mother and I are meeting up tomorrow for me to pick them up.
So there we go, 2 recommendations from me for clothes and shoes! Would you ever expect anything less *grin*
In other news, I'm bloody tired, didn't sleep well last night. But my lovely boss is back at work, which makes work so much better.
southern_softee that situation has been sorted, thanks for the heads-up! Work is still going on, which is good, and I think things may get better.
Am going to Balti Bazaar again tomorrow, but they do lovely scampi, and am looking forward to it (I may wear my new shoes)
Still no sign of my ring, where the hell have I put it?
Oh, and my icon has changed, which isn't a big surprise, and I've added one with a geisha on (must get a paid account!)
Think that's it for now! See you all in the funny pages x x x
