RIP to a true inspiration
Oct. 26th, 2004 07:09 amJohn Peel has passed away aged just 65.
He was a truely great man, and his contribution to music should never be underestimated.
Without him it is highly unlikely that punk, reggae, ska, new wave, and other alternative music would have ever been heard.
He gave unsigned bands their first big break, and he knew how important non-pop music was.
He was on Radio 1 from when it started until now.
A true original, a great man. The world will be darker without him.
